Does Speaker Sensitivity Really Matter?

So heres the thing.. Im looking for mids that are louder and keep up with my substage better. My tweets keep up, and are even turned down on the 3Sixty.

I currently have a pair of Ascendant Carbon Fiber Mids with a sensitivity of 88dB vs the 93dB of the Nendo 6.5s"

Should there be a noticeable difference in output?

kinda like gas mileage, its a stat that means different things to different people because they use the product a certain way. The flip side is, just like cars, you still look for the one with higher numbers.

So useless, no
the standard to judge a sub by.. nope to that too

Rolex you sicken me.

If you are really looking at sensitivity, which imo is a terrible way to judge a mid, take this into account. Say one speaker has a 6ohm coil with sensitivity measured at 2.83v/1m [one of the standard ways to measure sensitivity], you get 1.5 watts. Say another speaker has a 8 ohm coil at 2.83v/1m, then it gets 1w, and a 4 ohm coil get 2 watts.... so, the 4 ohm woofer would in theory get louder due to more power so it would have a higher sensitivity at 2.83v at a distance of 1 meter, BUT, since of the ohm load, it might not be on par with an 8 ohm mid with slightly lower sensitivity at the same distance. Hopefully that makes since. Ohm load effects the amount of power therefore if 2 speakers both have 90dB sensitivity, but one is a 4 ohm and the other is an 8 ohm, the 8 ohm has a greater sensitivity since the 8 ohm will get louder (90dB with 1 watt) while on the same power, the 4 ohm will do less than 90dB because it needs 2 watts to do 90dB.
