Recommended Posts

So i just ordered a second 1500bdcp and iknow im going to need either a second run of 0 or a single run of 2 ofc. total system RMS 4000-4500 watts and about 17ft from batteries. Any input on this will be much appreciated

Thanks !

None.. Im just running all the wires for now, i just ordered a FI sub soo i probably have 2 months to purchase a mechman. I figured if i can get away with the single run of 2ofc i can use my 0 gauge i have for the big 3..

Think about it this way, good0 gauge ofc can take 300 amps, so if you have am alt that produces 300 amps or less then any extra write will be pointless/peace if mind. Could the extra runs give you a better voltage?, maybe but until you try no one will know until it's done. If you can't supply more then what the wire can handle the extra wire isn't really needed and might be a waste but only testing will show for sure.

My single t1500.1bdcp with a 100 amp fuse took a test tone full tilt to pop it. On music for Weeks and the fuse was fine. So 2 of them will pull 200 amps total or less most likely on music.

Fyi a single t2500.1bdcp can produce similar power and pull less amperage in theory.

using math from sonic electronix

T1500.1bdcp/efficiency (.7 roughly)/13v= 164*2(2 amps)= 328 amperage

T2500.1bdcp/.7/13v= 274 amperage.

Just as a quick bit of info.

singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.

So if the 0 gauge can only handle 300 amp,Wich im running rockford 0. with the two amps i will be pushing the limits of the wire with sub amps alone. I play full tilt all the time. i think ill pull the 0 and install the sky high 2/0, and use the 0 for my big 3 which needs to be done anyway. thanks for your input !

The amps can't pull more then is available. If you only have say 250 amps available then they can only pull that much.

I myself plan in using2 of the same amps and I'll have a 250 amp alt, external regulator, 2 runs 0 gauge, solid frame ground, big 3, and a group 31 under the hood. From there I might fit another small battery under the hood (cai so where the stock intake box was I have some room) or 2 small batts in back.

Yeah i get ya, Think my current alt is 130.. i have two exide batts up front, heavy duty, they barely fit in the space avalible, honestly i only drop below 13 unless im playing full tilt for long periods of time. i have a 80 amp fuse on my 1500 and never blew it. Im trying to be proactive about the power supply, before i have issues and have to pull everything out of my truck to run more wire. Do you think 2/0 ( single run) or as your doing run the second run of 0.. How many Amps can 2/0 ofc handle ?

Check with the manufacture if the 2/0 gauge you have/are looking at and see what they rate it at.if less then 400-450 amp I would stick with 2 runs of 0 gauge IMO. Highest amperage draw a (roughly) 4k rms total setup would pull with an average of 70% efficiency would be about 440 amps. On music I would guess around 200-250 amps.

Realistically a single run if 0 gauge could possibly be enough on music but 2 runs or equivalent of 0 gauge ofc is my suggestion.
