CortezDTV
They lockout so you have to crimp to the right amount of pressure every time SHCA ofc 8 Guage SCSB Santa Cruz Speaker Box Build logs: Daily Driver Lemon Marquis 2 american bass 750.1s 350.4 on 14 focal 6.5s sq 945 on 4 hertz tweeters Mystery subs http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 The Mustang 'dubbed' Shirley the project from bullet holes to badass http://www.stevemead...cond-skin-time/
Rell
Thats not the correct tool either lol. Those work just fine for those lugs you got there, but not the ones he has in post#1 with the terminal in his hand. Btw, you have too much wire sticking out the other end of the terminal, plus it looks like you made the indent on the seam side of the terminal, indent should be on the other side. Rell
Backstory: We use these at work for a lot of battery connections. Usually I'll just pull out the blowtorch and some heatshrink and solder it on. No big deal for us bassheads, soldering <4ga wire. But we just got a new manager. And he flipped out when he saw me doing that. What he said to do, it cut me deep. It pained my very soul. "Just squeeze it with some pliers" I would have been like

WrongYou flip the crimp the opposite way it will bend and fold them properly snowdrifter... send me a ring terminal I'll crimp it and hang from I for this guy who don't believe me I didn't buy these crimper in The us.... they came for assembling electric motorcycles.... so I think they are approved on dinky automotive work They are made specifically to Crump wire of that size same compression and same way every time. ... and they use rings just like he showed I just don't have any SCSB Santa Cruz Speaker Box Build logs: Daily Driver Lemon Marquis 2 american bass 750.1s 350.4 on 14 focal 6.5s sq 945 on 4 hertz tweeters Mystery subs http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 The Mustang 'dubbed' Shirley the project from bullet holes to badass http://www.stevemead...cond-skin-time/

Keith77
Thats cool. Im way too old to be upset by shit like that. Your name is winston. Your own parents hated you even before you were born. My penis is bigger than your penis I'm far from loud and my roof/headliner flaps around like Adam's ass on a windy day. I think it depends more on the structure of the vehicle. Rell
Sorry I just don't see it, I would love for him to send you a terminal so we could see. Could you make a crimp with those? Yeah sure you probably could But the die frame on those crimpers you have they do NOT look anything like the correct die for those terminals he has. Even if you got them to crimp I would question how long it would last before pulling out. You could flip those terminals into the tool you have and try to fold the wing over and onto the wire & insulation with the the curved part, then the other end will smash it and make an indent into it (even though those terminals are not meant to be indented) but I'm just not seeing it. Those are basically F type terminals he has, these but with a ring terminal on the end instead. I doubt there is a crimp frame out there that can crimp those in one single motion, so he needs something with a die silmilar to these below, then he would need to complete the crimp in two steps. Crimp once for the wire, flip the tool and crimp one more for the insulation I've seen someone try and crimp those terminals but in 14-16 ga size with these Yeah he got the insulation wings to fold over and the crimp looked decent, but lol I pulled the wire right outta that shit with little force. BTW, Im not tryna clown or claim I'm an expert. Just a year ago I HATED butt connectors until I looked into it and found the correct tools. Researched other tools and talked with many other people about the different kinds. Needless to say after being schooled I'm very picky with what I use to crimp with and what the final result looks like. like this The top crimp with the red weather seal was crimped with these type of crimpers, which are ok if thats all you have. But these are only considered "repair" quality tool. Gm also recommends to solder these terminals after crimping. The bottom terminal with the white weather seal were crimped with a production type(bottom pic) crimp frame and specific die. No soldering needed While the other tool DID crimp it, it however did not make a good quality crimp that would be worry free.
CortezDTV
Lol I can hang from the crimp... so don't take my advise no skin on my back..... I know they work.... an consider major dirt bike makers use them I'll continue to do so.... dirt bikes are the most abused vehicle out there... so most things that need to be tough as shit go on those bikes first.... All the way own to he crimps on the wires And I would aways push more wire through the terminal, so it has an expanded part which also helps the connection and the crimp... When you don't push extra wire through the terminal sober crimp it... it won't hold as well... Don't take my advice I don't give a fuck.... left the pictures for snowdrifter sorry you think I used it backwards.. or its the improper tool SCSB Santa Cruz Speaker Box Build logs: Daily Driver Lemon Marquis 2 american bass 750.1s 350.4 on 14 focal 6.5s sq 945 on 4 hertz tweeters Mystery subs http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 The Mustang 'dubbed' Shirley the project from bullet holes to badass http://www.stevemead...cond-skin-time/
Rell
By the sound of your reply and the langue you chose to use it seems like my reply may have upseted you, that was not my intention. I was also just making an observation, I know wire should be sticking out the end (just not too much, or not too litle), and everyone has always told me not to use the staked end or the indent portion on the seam(which it looks like you did) Like I said I just don't see it working, but Im intrigued to see them crimped with your tool. On another note As I said earlier in the thread I have never seen one of those terminals that big. I have been on A LOT of websites that sell crimp tools and mostly for automotive use. Have yet to see a crimp tool for those terminals in 4ga size. Im begining to think there is no hand tool for those as I have been looking quite a lot only since this thread, maybe a die and a press is used to complete crimp like factories use to make battery terminals? *shurgs* Also just came across this http://www.ceautoelectricsupply.com/ueyelets.html Open Barrel Eyelets allow quite a bit more installation flexibility than traditional eyelets and are available in straight, left, and right orientations. Open Barrel Eyelets require a special tool to install, so we're happy to install them for you on cables built to your specifications. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/182789-we-now-assemble-oem-style-battery-cables/ Maybe snafu can shed some light on this, the terminals they use aren't exactly the same but maybe snafu knows something we don't.
