What tool is this? Driving me crazy! Electrical guys get in here

Recommended Posts

Need a tool to **properly** crimp these. I've searched google, and all I can find are crimp tools for ones 10ga and smaller. Well... This is bigger than that and it's driving me nuts not being able to find it.

Backstory: We use these at work for a lot of battery connections. Usually I'll just pull out the blowtorch and some heatshrink and solder it on. No big deal for us bassheads, soldering <4ga wire. But we just got a new manager. And he flipped out when he saw me doing that.

What he said to do, it cut me deep. It pained my very soul.

"Just squeeze it with some pliers"

Ghetto crimp senses are going crazy right now.... So I'm in search of a tool to crimp these the proper way.

With some knu 8ga sitting in it for reference

And here's the biggest die I have for these style of connectors. Only goes up to 8ga but this is a fair bit bigger. Can't even fit it in the tool with the dies attatched. I'd assume this is 4ga?

Finished connection looks something like this. With one pair of ears holding the wire in place, and the next pair going over top of the insulation

I fucking hate those terminals.

But I do believe they are made that way to be crimped easily with pliers. It's possible there's a specific tool out there but I think these are just made to be shitty squeeze to crimp terminals.

And the fact more than one person agrees does not make it a circle jerk, it makes it a bukkake scene and you're in the middle ;)

Problem is size.

It seems like a fairy common fitting. Used all the time for pin-based connectors (fuse boxes on cars, power supply connectors for your computer, etc).

Biggest tool I can find for crimping these is for 8ga. And I'm pretty sure this is a 4ga terminal. Can't find anything for that :(

^^First link doesn't work for me. Second one only goes up to 14ga. That's smaller than the one I have now :(
