Jay Davis Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 I'm going to install three batteries in my car in parallel. Before I install them I want to make sure that I'm doing it right. I am not going to use a battery isolator because everybody have talked to said do not use one. Now that being said the batteries are going to be ran in parallel all connect together grounded to the front battery. The truck has a big three installed. If I have all batteries connected without a battery isolator and I am not using the system will the batteries become over charged. Or does the alternator know when to not charge all the batteries. 2003 GMC Yukon Denali Xl Head unit - Sony 701hd / three Powerbass 3xl 12' / Mids -six Audiopipe apmb-6 mid bass, highs- six Audiopipe atr3721 3 3/4 tweets + two Lanzar super bullet tweets / sub amp- Hifonics Brutus 2400.1d / highs amp- Hifonics Brutus 640.4 , two HC2000 kinetic / wire-Sky high car audio 0/1, 8 gauge, 12 gauge, 16 gauge / 300 amp Ohio gen. alternator

Lbox88 Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 What does your alt charge at now? As long as it's in the 14.X V range you'll be fine. Just make sure the fuse your positive run from front to back next to the front batt AND the back in case anywhere in between if the wire rubs through the insulation and grounds out, all your batteries will be saved. P4killer_ Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 Besides, when in parallel, the alt or anything else for that matter sees those batts as one biiig batt. Jay Davis Posted March 3, 2014 Author Report Posted March 3, 2014 Looking at all the diagrams I've seen does the battery have to be grounded in the back of the truck? 2003 GMC Yukon Denali Xl Head unit - Sony 701hd / three Powerbass 3xl 12' / Mids -six Audiopipe apmb-6 mid bass, highs- six Audiopipe atr3721 3 3/4 tweets + two Lanzar super bullet tweets / sub amp- Hifonics Brutus 2400.1d / highs amp- Hifonics Brutus 640.4 , two HC2000 kinetic / wire-Sky high car audio 0/1, 8 gauge, 12 gauge, 16 gauge / 300 amp Ohio gen. alternator

ZAPCO209 Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 Do u have a ho alt? If not stock alt is gonna have a tuff time keeping up 3 batteries. THE DRIVING FORCE
Guest Posted March 3, 2014 Report Posted March 3, 2014 your batts will only pull as much power as they need. isolators dont do fucking jack shit for a daily system except ruin your alternator faster. only useful for playing music with the car off which no real basshead would do anyways. edit: only way you can really ruin batteries is by overcharging them 15v+, which wont happen if you monitor your shit.
