JEFFYBOI Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 I been using fiberglass cloth for the box I been building. I have never used fiberglass mat. Any pros or cons? CleanSierra Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Chop matt will make 90° turns easier. Trying to get woven matt to make any kind of sharp bends our turns can result in it wrinkling. Chop can be layered and layered without that problem. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Impalalpine Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 I can chime in and say that in my experience with chopped mat. it is much harder to keep a uniform and proper fiberglassing process going because of the tendency for the strings to stick to the brush and apply unevenly. ^^he is right about the 90 degree angle thing. I just much prefer to use woven mat Build's consist of: 2004 Chevy Impala : Pioneer--------------------- DEH-X8600bs Soundqubed/AQ------ Q4-120 Rockford Fosgate---- Punch-500.4 Soundqubed/AQ----- Q1-3500D.1 Alpine----------------- 6.5's & 6x9's Subs: TBA All Knukonceptz and SHCA wire and rca's Home Music Setup (4) Soundqubed HDS200 15's in two separate 15.5 cubic foot enclosures tuned to 31 hrz --- XM radio hardwire Updates coming all the time on both builds n8ball2013 "bullshit. CleanSierra Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 They each have their place in building and fab work. If you get a spreader like this it is much easier to apply: Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
P4killer_ Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 Now see the woven man imo is terrible.. it always wringles or wants to gets fingers and when you push it around the entire piece like to move. So its hard to get the entire piece to place exactly where you want. Chop on the other hand you can do w.e you want and itll formwithout pulling on everything or another layer. You pretty much smash it down and ur good. Some people use weave as the final layer to make it smoother for sanding and bondo paint etc..
