Tonight my fiancee calls me about an hour ago to say that the basement is covered in sewage aka piss and S**t... This has been 1 hell of a start to 1st time home ownership... FUUUUUU According to her none of our belongings seem to have been touched but jesus this is insane... I am supposed to be holding my son's Bday party on Sunday... truthsayer Posted March 5, 2014 Report Posted March 5, 2014 If you know this is not happening due to a clog and or standard backup. 1) make sure you have a backflow prevention valve installed. 2) make sure you are running a sewage ejector pump, not just a sump pump. Big reason people have these issues in a basement, they think a sump pump can handle the job. Well no they cant they get clogged and do not shred waste material. I can not stress enough to install a sewage ejector pump. truthsayer

I damn sure would be asking the builder about the backflow preventer valve and ejector pump i mentioned. If you have neither have one or both, i would also be going after the inspector. truthsayer
