todays foam is treated and lasts much longer than the stuff from the 90's. that being said i still have sony tower speakers from 1991 when i bought them and they are still good.

IIRC it was sun light that was killing the old ones.

Likely brands above haven't been selling long enough for widespread surround failures to occur yet anyways (8+ years is said to be usually needed). If supposedly UV protected foam surrounds will fail it will take a few years to be known. I wouldn't worry too much though as recones are offered for all those subs.
