i said imo, (in my opinion) not this is the only way ever!

personally id rather have 2 subs in 5gross feet then 3 in 5gross. either way would work but ones cheaper and deeper. and most subs do better in big boxes. well anyone that i would buy

Drop a 12" builds a box between 3.5-4.5 cuft net subs back 6-8" aero port through the ski hole. Yes going down to 2 12s will be less cone area but you will gain in output with in a certain freq range around tuning depending on box design. A nice set of components upfront that have a good freq range and it will sound great IMO.

the subs facing the seats will be ok to? i thought subs front port back(threw ski Hole) would be better. just because he wants to push them all the way to the seats. And even if the seats fold down it's usually better to have them as far back in the trunk as possible. (usually)

I would think that porting through the hole and leaving the subs facing back would cause some weird cancellation. 4th order would be the way to go with 1-2 subs.

but would the forth fit in a Lil space? he needs the room for his kids stroller and stuff like that. i guess he could do a 1:1.5 ratio and do 2sealed 3 ported but is that really Gonna be better? I'm asking sincerely

Sub back port forward through the ski hole shouldn't have issues. I think it worth a try, can do it with what you already have plus a new box and pvc for testing.

Could do a single 10 our 2 8s in a 4th order bandpass. You would first have to figure out the port area you can fit with the ski hole them pick subs that will work with that port area in a 4th. If you want to go that route you need to talk with someone that has good experience with 4th orders.

I wouldn't do sub back port forward. It's almost certainly going to have issues with the port being directly behind the drivers

Great Topic - well i'm having a same sort of issue as well - i have a ported box, with a ski hole issue like this. ironically my port is small square port that aligns with the ski hole but there's a GAP between the two..i guess based on reading the comments - adding an extension to the box port sealed to the ski port should help?

good topic for insight - looking forward
