Mike Gibbens Matthew
I have searched and found nothing so a quick question and hopefully a quick answer. I have been recommended to ground my alt case to battery neg. I have 2 options for wire routing. Run the neg around the front of the engine bay (battery and alt opposite sides) or run the ground next to the alt charge wire around the back (shorter distance). Will running the alt charge and ground wire next to each other cause any problems? I am using 2\0 welding cable. zack_e89
I'm no expert, but as long as the exposed wire at the ends isn't close enough to arc then you're fine...and I only know this from experience, as I've arced shit before LOL. I might just do the longer distance though to be safe if you have the wire, maybe a post a picture so we can see. 97 Suburban 8 custom PSI Platform 3 18's

YukonDCXL
That would be like saying running the charge wire next to or near any metal that is grounded would be bad
Mike Gibbens Matthew
Somehow I knew I was going to feel like an idiot after this was answered. Thanks guys. Everything will be shrink wrapped and no possible way to arc. 07 KIA Spectra 320a Singer Alt Odyssey Extreme batteries 2 12" Phantom sounds (4.6 cu. net @ 32) - soon to be 2 Atomic ELE 2 Rockford Fosgate T2500bd-CP Zapco Z150.2 Front comps soon to be Hertz HSK Pioneer 80prs Second skin deadener throughout

bigmizzle99
Did you mean ground alt case to chassis or are you literally going to connect it to the battery negative post? Camaro SS Build Altima build 2.0 Altima build 1.
Mike Gibbens Matthew
It is literally connected to the battery neg terminal. Turned out great. I cant believe the difference it made! I cleaned up and sanded all factory grounds I could find along with the addition of my new wires. ZERO light dim and only dropping from 14.1 to 13.4 in the trunk with the volume about 10% higher than I was able to play before and it sounds way cleaner also. 07 KIA Spectra 320a Singer Alt Odyssey Extreme batteries 2 12" Phantom sounds (4.6 cu. net @ 32) - soon to be 2 Atomic ELE 2 Rockford Fosgate T2500bd-CP Zapco Z150.2 Front comps soon to be Hertz HSK Pioneer 80prs Second skin deadener throughout
bigmizzle99
I'm glad its working out, but the purpose of the alternator case ground is to improve the return path of your electrical system. The alt case ground should connect to chassis, and from same spot connect your big 3 battery ground. That is straight from Tony C. (CE Electronics).
