Thermal Paste Refresh

Nice work on refreshing the amp.

Did you do anything with the back cover "fingers"?

I have some old PPI Art amps that I want to refresh too.

My only worry would be that one of those "fingers" wouldn't hold the FET down hard enough and cause it to burn up.

As far as overheating, no need for fans........the Art amps have a very cool integrated cooling feature that I would be interested in trying someday... ;)

Oooo and an old school Punch amp coming up! :woot:

My two favorite old school amps.

when you pull the cover off just make sure the fingers are not bent in. I'll pull the cover off this one in a few days after the paste sets up and check for contact. The pressure from the fingers should compress all the fets and show some excess paste squeezing out the sides of each. That's one way to check for contact. I should of taken better pictures of the cover.

The fosgate amp had no where near as much paste as this one. Plus it uses a different way of clamping down he fets.

I'll post a different thread on that one. I actually have two to do. A 250m2 and a 200ix. the 200ix will need the remote terminal re soldered as it's loose.

Rolex you sicken me.

Good idea on pulling the cover a while afterwards to verify contact.

I have a similar project coming up so I'll keep that in mind. ;)

Sweet, another Punch200. :D I refurb'd mine and the paste in it was reasonable.

Yep, they have an aluminum bar with a rubber strip. I like that method better then PPI's. Lets you run and troubleshoot the amp with the cover off and no worry about overheating anything.

You have to be careful with the PPI's to not pull too much current through them when the cover is off since the FET's are not tightly heatsunk.

Anxious to see another P200 refurb :woot:

Thats cool. Im way too old to be upset by shit like that. Your name is winston. Your own parents hated you even before you were born.

My penis is bigger than your penis

I'm far from loud and my roof/headliner flaps around like Adam's ass on a windy day. I think it depends more on the structure of the vehicle.
