Keep in mind with the size and tuning of this port, it should have NO business playing music but somehow it does, and very loudly at that... Got some examples for some of us newbies of what to "toss out"?The port is tuned to 50hz with 20sq inches per cube.Plays down to 30 with authority and up to 60 as well. What I meant is that tuning and size is out of the usual conventional rules of thumb when building a box. Wasn't calling anyone a "newbie" directly. Also, I remember going to a shop and they told me they wanted to tune my box between 45-50 and 35-38 was too low for rap. Nikitaaa Posted March 21, 2014 Author Report Share Posted March 21, 2014 The frequency range is awesome for being tuned so high but there is MANY factors involved such as cabin resonant frequency, stiffness of the subwoofer suspension, location of the box, size of the box in relation to the port etc etc etc.. In my unique situation, my subs love LOTS of port. And that im certainly not short on being I have a 9inch handmade areo in the box right now. The stiffness of the subs lets me play wayyy below tuning and the acoustics of my cabin boost the lower frequency range while letting me utilize the SPL gain from higher tuning.
