That is what the circuit board is doing yes, active vs passive, passive is on all the time, active is only on when voltage is high and making the circuit ACTIVE. Balancing helps greatly extend the life of the cap. According to the maxwell engineer I talked to last week, my bank will last 15 to 20 years. In my testing I also saw balancing as benefit in dynamic music, vs in a burp application I saw NO gain. Where do you buy these microchips? I also bought my caps from Chris. It is a porter cable brand, has cutting teeth on the edge that work great on aluminum and they are made for wood, but when used in a drill press with cutting fluid worked perfect.
