Coaxials?

Recommended Posts

With my tax return on the way and plenty of time on my hands, i'm changing my mind on speakers for my car A LOT.

I was looking at two sets of components, but i think i'd rather have just one set in the front and a set of coaxials in the back. I have $100-$150 (no more than 150$) for two sets (four) speakers.

I'm looking at these http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_67790_Rockford-Fosgate-R165X3.html and these http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_61010_Rockford-Fosgate-PRIME-R165-S.html Cheap, but still Rockford

Or these http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_68141_MB-Quart-OKC116.html and these http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_68145_MB-Quart-OSC216.html I've heard a lot of great things about the Onyx series.

But I could get these http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_43143_Rockford-Fosgate-P165.html and these http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_61207_Rockford-Fosgate-P165-S.html but I'm gonna have to wait another month for the amp if i do. Still Rockford quality, established brand and VERY nice for the price.

Any opinions? They'll be properly amped up even if they're 30w rms. I'm going to pick the amp out after the speakers are firmly decided on.

Feel free to give some experiences and advice/suggestions.

I like the last option a lot.

The first, cheap is cheap.

Have you considered just dumping it all in just a set for the front?

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

ok now after looking I would personally go with the punch comps. I also like mb quart too though but I think you will get better sound with a component set vs coaxial. I wouldn't go with anything of the prime series. Im not saying Rockford is bad by any means because there not but I haven't heard a lot of good things about the prime series. I do have a prime amp in my wifes car though and no complaints with it.

The thing is though, If I only get a set for my front doors i'll have stock in the back :/

I really do like the Punch's looks and reviews though, they seem pretty popular. Anyone have some other brands/models to give experience?

grab the pictures and toss them on the post. To keep it not being a VS post make a couple or few different post on opinions on these speakers. May have to look at a couple different post but better than getting a naughty note and a thread locked.

I would go for the punch series if you plan on amping them. I have never been a fan of mylar tweeters either. I would stick with Silk or Aluminum

Krakin is also correct you will really only hear the front set so spending more money on something up front is a good idea.

My question now is that is the extra 40$ worth it for the component set?
