greg4510 Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Hey guys got a new pioneer head unit and new audiopipe pre-amp. The problem is when I turn off the ignition I get a loud pop noise, what could it be guys help
HopenCagen Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 i had this same issue, it turns out it is was the amp that i was doing it. got a new one and it never happened again accept when changing from accesory on and then turning on the ignition , people are probably going to tell you to check your grounds, get a relay , ground your rcas yada yada yada if youre able hook up an old amp if you have one or if a friend has one and see if it still happens if so then i would look into getting a new amp (last resort) or getting a relay if you really wanted this happens because i believe the amp shuts off before the car / head unit turns off so their is still power going to the amp when the head unit isnt turned on. not completely sure but i would first hook up another amp and check then move on from their
xxgokouxx Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 My EQ did it, so it might be your audiopipe preout (if it's active).
greg4510 Posted April 17, 2014 Author Report Posted April 17, 2014 I know the amps are fine just removed them from my truck and put them in the ca. I have 3 amps and they all pop when I switch the key
never knows best Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Turn On/Off Thump Turn on thump can vary from a slight pop to a mind shattering, teeth rattling BOOM! This thump is caused by the audio circuitry stabilizing when power is applied. Most amplifiers and source units have muting circuitry that lasts a couple of seconds to allow these fluctuations to subside before passing a signal. However, if the amplifier un-mutes before the source unit or any other accessory, you better watch out. Here are some things to try if you have turn on thump. Verify that the amp has a good audio ground reference. Dont install the system so the amplifiers can be switched on when the source unit is turned off. If you still have thump, add a turn on delay module in line with the remote turn on wire to the amp.
