I just purchased a used Kenwood KAC-9104d for $50 off a neighbor. Plugged it in to see if it worked and everything plays as it should. Is this a decent amp? Does it do clean rated power?

1000 rms @ 1

1000 rms @ 2

500 rms @4

anyone ever use one of these in their ride? How did ya like it?? As always, thanks guys!

Those numbers are inflated.

30A x 2 fuses says it all.

Here is the video. What this guy is saying it true about the real output.

This amp is set at CE 2006 compliance so the numbers are with 14.4V with most cars do not have.

I did some calculations based on my old MTX 2160 with said 300W @ 12.5V and dynamic power of 14.4V is 425W.

The difference is 125W or 25% less power at 12.5V vs the 14.4V. This was my shade tree calculations for my A/B Class amp.

This guy says about 20% less than labeled. So that's close to what I calculated. So the numbers you posted are not

necessarily true. But Class D is def. more efficient so I see 700W out of her at 2 Ohm. Still a good amp for the price. lol. Just do not worry about the numbers, worry about the quality.

$50 dollar hot plate.... Late for work/school? Cook breakfast on the go ! Kenwood FTW.

Seriously though, not a bad deal. You could always try to flip it.

I'm not now and never have been a fan of Kenwood amps. They're like Boss amps with a Tuxedo on...

I think it's fitting that the PCB in that amp is the same color as desert sand... cause there's a lot of empty space in there. ;-)

That said, if you absolutely needed a budget amp to power a small system, it's not a bad price to pay.

Never liked Kenwood amps. They let me down when I built my Memphis wall in my 83 Eldorado. It didn't put out what it was rated to do and kept overheating and going into thermal protect. I paid full retail price then. I wouldn't do that now. For a small build, they are good. At $50 its hard to beat.
