Alternator issue?

Hello Bassheads,

I purchased a Mechman 320A H.O. alternator back on 2010. I installed it and everything was OK.

But as time went by I noticed a great drop in performance.

At first, I had more "stable" currents and restoration.

So I took a clampmeter and tried to measure the alt. I measured all 3 wires attached to it while I was testing in tones in order to generate full load.

So I added all the measurments and got about 200A with a voltage drop to 11.7V

Any idea on what is wrong so I can take it off and perform a service on it?

Bumping your own thread in the same day you post doesn't help.

you got the alt from mechman, contact them about it.

singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.

I wasn't really bumping. I just thought that someone may already have been affected by a similar problem and could tell me approximately what to check on it.
Most US H.O. alts have the same architecture, but again, I guess I am the only one facing this problem...

No not really. Actually I was expecting some help from other members. But I guess you are right. Should contact Mechman.

So sorry for being in the wrong section. To avoid duplicates, could a mod move it there?

Thank you in advance.

Well if you want my guess I'd say the voltage regulator is going out since you mentioned low amperage at 11.7V but I'm nobody and that's just a guess...I'm sure mechman will take good care of you.

I was actually planning on changing all the diodes and brushes...... The voltage regulator is external and consists of a diode and a variable resistance. To be honest, I really don't have a clue on what happens inside this architecture's alt.
