Hakeem Ward Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 hi, i have two 500 watt 15" soundstream dual vc subs. i want to kno if i run a 2000 watt amp on them, giving each voice coil 500 watts. Can they handle it ?
Krakin Posted April 28, 2014 Report Posted April 28, 2014 Each one of the coils on a 500 W RMS DVC sub can take 250 watts. Get a 1000 W RMS amplifier to match your two subs. The 500 W is the total for the whole speaker, not each coil. Krakin's Home Dipole Project http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/186153-krakins-dipole-project-new-reciever-in-rockford-science/#entry2772370 Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist? I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . . What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself but what has drawn your attention in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears, thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

But if you have not yet bought an amp I would go with what Krakin said, Just to be on the safe side. OP buy a 1k-1.2k amp and then you will be fine. As others said its a 500wrms DVC so each coil can only handle 250rms. If you put double rated power on those subs you most likely will blow them. 2012 Chevy sonic1xSQ HDC3 12 D2RF R1200d 140 square foot of Q-Mat(soon to be installed) 140.2Db sealed on the dash with TL 142 DB sealed on the dash with another meter (was dead on with the TL at a show i was at) 141 on music. strangeduck,on 02 Jan 2014 - 01:39 AM, said: when my car spins out i just put the car in neutral, turn in the direction i want to go and pucker my asshole

Mappy Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 I have a factory Bose system in my 2003 Tahoe. I installed a DB Drive K7 1250.1 amp and a DB Drive K9 12" sub. Im getting a thump from the speakers everytime I turn the vehicle on. Watching some of the videos on here im hearing about running the power source and grounds to the same location to avoid groung loop. Any thoughts? Speaker beats hard while its on, very satisfied, just the initial pop at start up. Have a power wire coming from the battery with a fuse block straight to the amp. Ground is only 1.5 feet long. Good conection. Have a line input converter installed under the center concole with 4 wires. Left/Right + - connections into the factory harness. Then leading into a base knob then to the amp. Why the POP? Ive been out of the audio system for a while so i'm catching up to the new technology.

Ahmed Johnson Posted April 29, 2014 Report Posted April 29, 2014 You probably have your gain up too high if you are getting a pop. I know some cheap amps (audiofonics for sure) have a pop no matter how good you ground it and or where you have the gain.
