Deeznutz Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 this question has probably been asked before. i have a chance to buy a 34r redtop optima used for $100. sticker date is 9/11. i also have my 220 h.o. alternator for the 4.3 Vortec. i have 25 ft of Stinger 0/1 gauge as well. is this battery any good? or do i need the yellow top?? im kicking myself for selling an old school Orion MBR 70, ELectric bat isolator!! Grrrr. Any input would much appreciated. -Frank
Guest Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 i honestly wouldn't deal with any optima batteries. dont get a battery isolater either. just wears batteries down more and puts more stress on the alt.
Smoove Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 Throw the redtop in the trash. My RF T5002 sucked a redtop below 12v in like 2 min, with a 200amp alt at idle. The yellow is a better battery.
