Recone question, pics inside

Recommended Posts

Hey, quick question from the veteran reconers. This is my SQ HDC3 10" sub that I recently reconed. The question is how I've got the leads zip tied, one above, one below the basket. I left room for the leads to move on the top side, and yet enough to not slap(I hope) the back of the cone. Do I have too much lead above, should I take some slack out in case these things DO slap the bottom side of the cone? Should I also run another zip tire from the top to bottom zip tie to keep them static and from sliding one way or another?

Thank you guys :)

Instead of zip tieing them together, i would throw some CA Glue on them and pull them down a little and keep em that way. Or put them on the side of the holes and zip em to the side of the basket. That way theres not as much / slack there if by chance it does slap, which i don't think it would in my opinion anyway.

That, or lay them over the metal tab, instead of feeing then through it, and use the wire holes as ziptie loops.

That or undo the top zip tie and just put some ca around where the wire passes through the hole

And, the first hump of the leads doesn't really extend at all, so you don't need to leave a big hump with where the wires are.

Ok, all that extra slack I can take out and just lay them flatter. Maybe dab them down with CA and on the top and then zip tie through the hole. Alright I may give that a try, take some pics and come back again to see if it's executed correctly. Thank you

lay them flat. with those baskets for future, set the recone in there so the leads are not centered with the terminal on basket. it makes it easier to ca glue them down and also easier to run through the holes. If I wasnt at work I could post a picture of what im talking about.
