dharris2488
Hey guys, Advanced Auto Parts has Platinum AGM's for a fairly decent price buy using discount code TRT30 when checking out (30% percent off). I can get the first battery for 135.00 because of a core discount, and the second for 153.00. Here is the description: Autocraft Platinum AGM Battery, Group Size H8, 850 CCA Acid Included: Yes Battery Type: AGM Battery Usage: Auto/Truck BCI Group Size: H8 Cold Cranking Amps: 900 Cranking Amps: 1000 Deep Cycle/Starting: Dual Purpose Height: 7.5 Length: 13.94 Maintenance Free: Yes Reserve Capacity: 160 Terminal Type: SAE Weight: 59.45 Width: 6.938 http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/autocraft-platinum-agm-battery-group-size-h8-850-cca-h8-agm/10210828-P?navigationPath=L1*14920|L2*15000|L3*15597#fragment-2 What's your guys opinion on this battery? I'm running close to 3000RMS with a 240amp Mechman already installed. I want to upgrade my batteries and not spend a fortune. Hoping these batteries get the job done and prevent my voltage from dropping into the 12's... I'm editing the post because I have installed 3 of the H6 style AGM's. I couldn't fit the H8 (sucks), but the 3 H6's are holding VERY well. Remember to use discount code TRT30 in the checkout section. It will only allow you to apply it to one battery at a time. So, I had to do 3 seperate transactions. 135.00 for one battery and the other 2 were 155.00. Can't beat that! Voltage is holding steady, steady.... We will see how these perform in the long run, but as of now, these are legit AGM's... 2013 Toyota Camry SE 240a MechMan HO Alternator 1/0 Welding Flex Cable Big 3 CT Sounds 4000.1D Kenwood XR400-4 Mid/High Amp SoundQubed Q4-120 Mid Amp Infinity Kappa 6.5 components Kappa 6x9's for rear deck fill (coming out) (4) 8" PRV 8MB450's Set of SoundQubed SuperTweets (2) DSS Ethos 12's D2's @32.5hz (building 4th order enclosure) (2) SQ HDC3 10's @ 33.5hz (current build, loving them) Pioneer AVH-X4600BT 100 sq/ft Stinger RoadKill Sound Deadner 120 sq/ft QMat Sound Deadener (4) Juice Box Black Cherries Lots and Lots of feet of SHCA wire, along with 50' of Welding 1/0 2 Runs of 1/0 Positive front to back ToolMaker Everywhere
TRON
For the most part, any kind of AGM is a good start and they are a good price. Looks like they are a pretty big battery, 160 AH (That's what they mean by reserve capacity I'm guessing). I'm connecting all three AutoZone AGM's today... Should give me a total of 210ah, which should be plenty for 2800 watts rms... I hope I don't get flamed for saying this, but if i'm still seeing small voltage drops, I may consider a 5-10 farad capacitor to help stabilize what voltage I have... 2013 Toyota Camry SE 240a MechMan HO Alternator 1/0 Welding Flex Cable Big 3 CT Sounds 4000.1D Kenwood XR400-4 Mid/High Amp SoundQubed Q4-120 Mid Amp Infinity Kappa 6.5 components Kappa 6x9's for rear deck fill (coming out) (4) 8" PRV 8MB450's Set of SoundQubed SuperTweets (2) DSS Ethos 12's D2's @32.5hz (building 4th order enclosure) (2) SQ HDC3 10's @ 33.5hz (current build, loving them) Pioneer AVH-X4600BT 100 sq/ft Stinger RoadKill Sound Deadner 120 sq/ft QMat Sound Deadener (4) Juice Box Black Cherries Lots and Lots of feet of SHCA wire, along with 50' of Welding 1/0 2 Runs of 1/0 Positive front to back ToolMaker Everywhere
Skullz
Your voltage will still drop but not nearly as fast as it would without the extra battery capacity, just throw a charger on the battery bank every couple of days to top em off and keep them for around as long as possible. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2

Yeah, I expect a little voltage drop, but I'm doing my best to eliminate it as much as possible. I have a question for you. It's about my grounds. I want to ground from the chassis to a distribution block, and also run a ground from the negative post of my rear battery bank to the distribution block. From there, I will take the 1/0 ground from from the block and insert that into my amp. Is that ok? To ground from chassis and negative battery post? Do I need to fuse anything on the ground run (specifically the wire coming from the negative battery post to the distribution block)? 2013 Toyota Camry SE 240a MechMan HO Alternator 1/0 Welding Flex Cable Big 3 CT Sounds 4000.1D Kenwood XR400-4 Mid/High Amp SoundQubed Q4-120 Mid Amp Infinity Kappa 6.5 components Kappa 6x9's for rear deck fill (coming out) (4) 8" PRV 8MB450's Set of SoundQubed SuperTweets (2) DSS Ethos 12's D2's @32.5hz (building 4th order enclosure) (2) SQ HDC3 10's @ 33.5hz (current build, loving them) Pioneer AVH-X4600BT 100 sq/ft Stinger RoadKill Sound Deadner 120 sq/ft QMat Sound Deadener (4) Juice Box Black Cherries Lots and Lots of feet of SHCA wire, along with 50' of Welding 1/0 2 Runs of 1/0 Positive front to back ToolMaker Everywhere

I also have a MechMan 240amp HO alt to help keep these batteries topped off. I will keep an eye on them to check their resting voltages, but hopefully the alt will take care of all charging for me... Keeping fingers crossed. I hope this helps stabilize everything and keeps the amp from clipping from low voltage. It would be nice to bump full tilt and not have to worry about spikes that cause clipping at the moment. It sucks having to watch my clipping light and adjust the gain on the fly, as to prevent damage to my equipment! ARGHHH, IT's always something with car audio! But, I suppose that's why I love it. I think my life would be boring without this hobby... lol 2013 Toyota Camry SE 240a MechMan HO Alternator 1/0 Welding Flex Cable Big 3 CT Sounds 4000.1D Kenwood XR400-4 Mid/High Amp SoundQubed Q4-120 Mid Amp Infinity Kappa 6.5 components Kappa 6x9's for rear deck fill (coming out) (4) 8" PRV 8MB450's Set of SoundQubed SuperTweets (2) DSS Ethos 12's D2's @32.5hz (building 4th order enclosure) (2) SQ HDC3 10's @ 33.5hz (current build, loving them) Pioneer AVH-X4600BT 100 sq/ft Stinger RoadKill Sound Deadner 120 sq/ft QMat Sound Deadener (4) Juice Box Black Cherries Lots and Lots of feet of SHCA wire, along with 50' of Welding 1/0 2 Runs of 1/0 Positive front to back ToolMaker Everywhere
