SIDE SHOW Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 take the tweeters out and test them, or test them on head unit pwr. try wire them to a diff channel on the amp if you think it's the amp. write a list of what you think it could be then start checking it until you find the solution. i'm guessing either a poor connection at the tweeter, gain to high on amp. filters not set correctly. swap left and right rca over at the amp.
808faka Posted June 3, 2014 Author Report Posted June 3, 2014 alright this is a list of all the things i tried. 1.took tweeters out and tested impedance, still good. 2.checked polarity. 3.checked gain, its a little less then half and my other 2 tweeters on the other channel were playing just fine with the gain at the same level the other 2 were hissing. 4.grounded RCAs at the deck, still hiss. 5.used a totally different set of brand new RCAs, still hiss 6.crossed over at 6k , other 2 playing sound just fine. 7.switched the tweets that were playing fine and put them on the other channel, they started hissing. 8.unplugged all RCAs from amp, they STILL hiss. 9.post on smd hoping to get a solution. STILL HISS
truthsayer Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 Guess it could be the amp, but first, try and ground amp to the chassis. Set gains properly, not just guessing. On your amp, just under half may be way to high causing distortion. Swap the hissing tweeters to the other channel and see if they still hiss. You could also possibly have to low of an ohm load for your amp. truthsayer

808faka Posted June 3, 2014 Author Report Posted June 3, 2014 get a replacement amp this thing is brand new! i emailed sundown already to see if maybe they know whats wrong and can fix it?
truthsayer Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 Did you open the amp to see if the rca input( on the channel that is hissing) has a bad solder joint on the ground. And as far as the grounding of the amp, you should ground the batt and amp to the chassis. truthsayer

SIDE SHOW Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 take it out the car and try it in some1 else's car/setup..... to be absolutely sure it's the amp, also try a diff amp on those tweets. always helps to have a test bench for things like this. unfortunately some things hav defects from the factory. (being a sundown amp tho, i'd more guessing it's something simple that you have missed)
SIDE SHOW Posted June 3, 2014 Report Posted June 3, 2014 make sure it's the amp first (don't open it up, can void your warrenty if you have any) or take it down to a sundown dealer and ask them to fix it
