Does HIFONICS X1500.1D do rated power?

What is the point of rating amps under what they do..

Rate it at what it does.

I don't want to get a 1k amp that does 2k, because that isn't what I payed for.

I don't want to get a 500W amp when I was told it was a 1k amp.

In my eyes it is bad both directions, however it is clear that most of the times it worse when under..

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

And the mainstream brands tend to do that now, referring to Kicker, RF, Alpine, etc. Years ago, the amp could well do 300RMS or more than rated, now it seems you're lucked if it does 50RMS more than rated.

The Sundown models listed aren't really over rated per se, there 1000d is rated at 1000RMS@1 ohm, the testing shows it does 1200RMS@1 ohm, so at the 2 ohm load the OP will be presenting to the amplifier, 700-800RMS is likely.

I don't think they just underrate them. I think its the companies that build quality products over build certain components to ensure that none of them under perform. I'm guessing the components of an amplifier each have certain tolerances for performance and the companies probably use components whose worst spec produces the desired output. Just my guess though, I could be way wrong.

I'm sure you're right in some aspect, such as the "worst case" amp being the rated power. I also see how that would inflate the common product.

But my post was referring to deliberate under-rating. Such as when CT Sounds had there amps at like 50% or whatever of the actual output.
