never knows best Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 they have ones that can be adjusted from seconds to multiple hours... you can change out components on most of them and customize them also-
never knows best Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 Is there a dope light in the back? Use that 12v to power a relay. Lights you buy and mount to normally open side of contact. when the back door is open, lights come on, off when shut. and youd be able to use the dial switch (or whatever turns your dope lights on) on the dash just a thought? thats a good idea.... even if the lights themselves aren't present the factory wiring should still be there to tap into...
bbeljefe Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 If you aren't opposed to having switches that aren't generally used in automotive applications, use a couple of 3 way residential lighting switches. That way you could turn them on and off from either location without the need for timers, relays, etc. There may even be someone who makes a three way toggle switch in an automotive style chassis. I will be using that power for sure, as said in my first post ill be using the wires that are already there (the lights still work as well but just ant cutting it) so that I can use the door feature. the issue I have with using that is there is no control for it, the only switch is on the lights them selves and they get burried with equipment very quickly as they are in the forward half of the van. meaning the back is in darkness. this idea will get me light everywhere, I can turn it on and off where I like, and I can leave it on and use the door function should I wish If you aren't opposed to having switches that aren't generally used in automotive applications, use a couple of 3 way residential lighting switches. The higher the more amperage it pulls, this is what I look at. I'll stick a 300 amp fuse in a potato and sell it to you for $2k. 1991 Mazda 323VERY small build thread here: http://www.stevemead...23-small-build/

This was exactly the idea I was going to post. Seems to be what he's looking for.
