RCP Audio Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 I'm Trying to get some more lighting into the back of my work van as I'm always loading out in the dark. What I'm thinking is to get 2 of the 5m led strips (warm white not that the colour bothers me) and stick one on the roof down ether side of the van which is about 4m long Now my old van had a switch on the dash that enabled the rear lights. I liked this feature and would like to do it again which isn't hard. BUT this van also has a panel at the back in the top right corner that would allow me to very easily attach a switch which would give me control from the back of the van (the LEDs will be wired to the exciting door lights so I don't loose the door open ability should I want it) My question is. Does anyone know of a switch or relay or something like that which would allow me to use both switches to control the lights. So I can turn it on at the back. But when I get in the cab and forget to turn it off. I don't have to walk to the back... Any ideas? I thought a relay would be the best bet but I'm not sure about how I go to having two totally separate switches for the same thing Sorry for spelling mistakes. My iPhone screen is cracked more then a pack of cookies delivered by FedEx is, so can't easily re read what I've typed PSN: Rcp_soundz Good rule of thump is go by what fuse size is being used in these amps. The higher the more amperage it pulls, this is what I look at. I'll stick a 300 amp fuse in a potato and sell it to you for $2k. 1991 Mazda 323VERY small build thread here: http://www.stevemead...23-small-build/
kjvsop Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 I plan on doing multiple LED strips in my car. I'm not sure if I exactly understand what you are trying to do, but this is the best thing that I've found so far for my application. http://www.pilotautomotive.com/mobile_led/CZ-3051.html Kicker ZXS 1500.1 Solo-Baric S12L72 (2) ZX 650.4 KSC693 6x9 (4) PKD1 1/0 AWG K-Series RCA's 4 AWG Big 3 85 Monte Carlo
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted June 24, 2014 Report Posted June 24, 2014 What you would do is wire both switches exactly the same way to one relay and from the relay to the lights that way either switch will trigger the relay and turn on the lights. Edit- also make sure you fuse all the power wires. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.

So do I need to find a switch that wont stay on? just one that can tell the relay to turn on then become idle? would you happen to have a link or know the name of what im looking for? so far all ive come up with wont allow me to use them seperatly as the switches stay "closed" when its on, there for using the other switch just means I have two closed switches... Unless that isnt whats going to happen and im looking at it all the wrong way PSN: Rcp_soundz Good rule of thump is go by what fuse size is being used in these amps. never knows best Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 two momentary switches and a relay that accepts a momentary signal... could even get a delay time relay and set it at a desired time to shut off after triggered-

Bump4life Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 why wouldnt you just run a switch to the front to control a relay which has the lights on it? then you could have switches at the back to control each individual strip Buyer/Seller Feedback Thread: http://www.stevemead...5015-bump4life/ MB C220 153 Trunk Car Build Log: http://www.stevemead...d/#entry1840136 MB C280 Ipad Dash SQ Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/194484-bump4lifes-new-benz-tony-c-relay-kit-pictures-ce-electric-audison-front-stage-installed/ My SPL Log: http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 BMW M340 xDrive Stock, for now. never knows best Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 I think the idea was to be able to turn the lights on/off regardless which switch used (front/back)... whereas a constant switch in the front, in the on position, would override the rear switch.... or vise versa-
