SLAYER1805 Posted June 26, 2014 Report Posted June 26, 2014 12.8 is good. If your trying to stay in 13/14v range its not gonna happen with 12v batteries and a 200a alt. After voltage sag ,current load & heat resistance you will be in the 12's. Our amps can dig down into 9.5v if im not mistaken. 14v is gonna require a 16v regulator,14v batteries & 12v step down module. Yeah,thats well easily over 1k$ Well, 12.8 it is... Just be happy with it huh? Buy one more battery for more reserve and call it good. EFFF IT!!! Tired of worrying about it. I can handle 12.8-13volts, but I don't feel like doing what you listed above to get the extra volt. I'm not a hardcore competitor like some on here. Just a daily beater that wants to get loud and piss a few people off in the process. Now, back to the subs. If I can get DSS to contact me back, they might get a freaking order. If it was SoundQubed, Kyle would have already emailed and called me to make sure all was good... hmmm those HDC's are starting to look good again. I wish they didn't take so much damn space to sound good. I wonder if I can get the HDC3 10's to WAAAANG!? Tune to 33-34 in 4 cubes net and let'm rip... 2 HDC3 10's were my plan for the longest time for my 2010 Camry because 2 of those wouldn't need as much space as 2 HDC3 12's

Kyle has been patient with me, even picked up the phone to explain some shite to me, and what more could I ask for? Customer Service has to count for something. I sent DSS an email yesterday morning sometime and they still haven't got back with me... I know people are busy, but you would think a company that is somewhat new to the scene would be doing everything they could to sell me a sub/s. If I go with SQ, I will pretty much have an all SQ system... All I would have to do is change out my mids from Infinity Kappa components, to SQ's components. That will be difficult for me, as I really do like the sound from the Infinity's. Maybe off the Q4-120, (2) sets of SQ Components, AQ 6x9 rear fill, and the new set of SQ SuperTweets I just bought for up front? Kind of makes me smile when I think about it... I will be running wire this weekend. My package from DroppinHz is coming in with my SHCA wire and Toolmaker goodies... Thinking about buying a piece of copper flat bar and fabricating a buss bar to make my install much easier. Thinking 3.5-4 cubes/net @34hz for the HDC3 10's. That should leave plenty of room for amps and batteries in the trunk, especially if I run a couple buss bars... Think I have it figured out. Thanks guys! I'm glad my wife doesn't know what all this car audio stuff is. Well, I should say she doesn't know how much this stuff costs. I'm very impressed with what I've seen so far from the Ethos line. The space requirements really bode well for my next build. I really want to run a set of 12's for the build, but I really only have so much room, so little that I was having to consider 10's. What's the smallest you would recommend, to avoid port noise for 2 12's? Probably doing a slot, but may end up doing aero's... The recommended port area is per Richard Small (the guy where the "S" comes from in T/S parameters). I use his formula to calculate minimum port area for port compression. You can however go a good bit smaller and not hear port noise. I would try to stay above 30 square inches per sub when tuning to 32 hertz. Thanks Quentin.
