RooTxBeeR Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 Ok, so I don't know why I smell them so much but here is a little run down as to why I think it might be. Previous set up was, a Skar IVX-15 on my AQ750@2 ohms putting out 500 watts in a 2.5cuft box. Now I have 2 Skar IVX-15's on the same amp @1 ohm putting out 750 watts(375a piece), in a 8cuft, same tuning(maybe off by 1-2hz). Now in my old set up, I could barely hit under 35Hz, so I would bottom out all the time. Was feeding the sub 200watts over rated power and almost never smelled the sub. Only did when wanging decaf tracks for a while. I usually stayed around 13v. New setup I can play up to 29-30 with authority and roll off after that. Can't even bottom them out if I tried, it rolls off pretty decent. I am barely over powering this set compared to how I did with the last sub. WIth this setup I maintain around 12v. Everything is identical in besides what I just said except I have no big 3, which would make that 1v difference when slamming. Only other thing to be different is in my last setup, I tuned the system with the DD-1 while the car was running. Now I tuned it with the car off, which is what I see everyone say to do. Why would I smell my subs so much now? And they get hot as hell. Mind me, I am playing pretty much the same songs from before to now. Would that difference between 13v to 12v introduce clipping? Is the difference in the car being on or off when tuning making it? I have no idea so that's why I made this. Anyone have any ideas? truthsayer Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 I personally would tune with the car running. There maybe some who tune with the car off, but i never understood the reasoning. After all i'm willing to bet you listen to your stereo most of the time with the car running. truthsayer

RooTxBeeR Posted July 2, 2014 Author Report Posted July 2, 2014 big ass box maybe? I thought about it honestly, but I am running just 75w over RMS so I didn't think it could be it. Maybe less power it will be better? I personally would tune with the car running. There maybe some who tune with the car off, but i never understood the reasoning. After all i'm willing to bet you listen to your stereo most of the time with the car running. I will try that again tomorrow, see if there is any difference. gr8handogoatness Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 How are you measuring your voltage? You say maintaining 12v so I'm just curious as to how you are measuring it? When it hits you could be dropping voltage a little and causing some clipping.
MrSkippyJ Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 You are almost a cube over per driver (I think) F150: Stock 2019 Harley Road Glide: Amp: TM400Xad - 4 channel 400 watt Processor: DSR1 Fairing (Front) 6.5s -MMats PA601cx Lid (Rear) 6x9s - TMS69

You are almost a cube over per driver (I think) They are 2.5-3.5 I believe. I have the V1's not V2 if that makes a difference.
