ohmboy Posted July 12, 2014 Report Posted July 12, 2014 just got my amp in the mail and im about to take it in for tuneing my question is can they still tune if my subs are not hooked up
BigManAC Posted July 12, 2014 Report Posted July 12, 2014 When you say tune your amp I'm going to assume that you mean set the gains and not set crossover points. Anyways yes, you do not need a sub in order to set gains with an o-scope or dd-1 2001 Saturn L200-Sony MEX-BT4100PFRONT STAGE:- (4) Crescendo PWX 6- Cadence XA250.2SUB STAGE:-Fi Audio BL 15 (Sealed Off)-Crescendo BC2kELECTRICAL:- Singer 240A alt - XS Power D3400- SkyHigh OFC power/speaker wire- Big 3 with SkyHigh 0gaugeBuild Log: Click HereScores: 146.5db @ 29hz Outlaw
Noel989 Posted July 12, 2014 Report Posted July 12, 2014 Tuning amps would be gains, hpf, lpf, subsonic filter, and any other filter that's on the amp Not just gains Build Log - http://www.stevemead...-cruiser-el-pt/
Weigel21 Posted July 12, 2014 Report Posted July 12, 2014 Yes and no. They can set the amplifer's gain for maximum clean power output, but without knowing what power the subs will take and the impedance you'll be running at it's a little more difficult to properly set the gain. As for the LPF, SSF, Bass Boost, Phase, crossover slope (if selectable), etc etc, it's not going to be anything one can do correctly without the planned driver wired up.
afrakes Posted July 12, 2014 Report Posted July 12, 2014 Why can't you set all of your hpf/lpf/bass boost/ etc. Without subs hooked up? As long as you know the planned drivers to be installed I don't see why it would be an issue. byers319 Posted July 12, 2014 Report Posted July 12, 2014 You can set them but you'll need to adjust them after everything is said and done. You have no idea on where exactly they need to go without hearing everything playing Edit: bass boost should never be set..
afrakes Posted July 12, 2014 Report Posted July 12, 2014 Agreed on no bass boost. How do u tune your hpf/lpf by ear? What do y listen for? I just try and get my knobs as close as possible to my desired tuning but never adjusted after playing the system.
