I think they wore out prematurely due to all the 140-150mph driving in Germany. If I let Ford do it under warranty, they only change the carrier and pinion bearings and seals. If my guy does it, ill also get the the hub bearings done plus he'll completely disassemble it and clean it to ensure there are no left over metal shavings from the bad part. He even removes the axles and swabs the tubes out with a rag and broomstick. Its free to have Ford do it, but its kinda half-assed, and they'll probably keep the car for a week. Not worth the waste of time at the dealer. Peace of mind goes a long way. Sure does. And I definitely don't get that from the dealer. I'll just break out the back up card and get her done right. Axles, axle tubes, and gears will also get a thorough cleaning before reassembly. They'll eat tax if I pay cash, can't beat that.
