problem with dd1

Recommended Posts

you have the tool in your hand to find out what you need to set it at.

step 1:

Hook DD-1 up to the FRONT RCA output of your head unit. Use 1khz: 0db track, turn your volume up until the 1khz light stays on, then back it down until it goes off.

Write this number down!

step 2:

Hook DD-1 up to the SUB OUT of your head unit. Use 40hz: 0db track. With sub level at 0 (or whatever the minimum setting is) turn the volume up until you see the 40hz light stay on, then back it down until it goes off. If the light doesn't stay on by the time you reach MAX unclipped volume from step 1, then start turning your SUB LEVEL up until the light stays on. If you want, and I suggest it, set the sub level somewhere a little lower than clipping level to set your amps.

Write these numbers down (max volume and sub level setting)!

Step 3:

With your head unit set to max unclipped volume, sub level turned to appropriate level (as determined in step 2), using the 40hz: -5db OR -10db track (depends on what you listen to most), slowly turn your gain up until you get a solid 40hz light, then back it down until it goes off.

Step 4: Set your head unit to max unclipped, using 1khz: 0db track, turn your gains up on your mids and highs amp until the 1khz light stays on, then back it down until it goes off.

Step 5: Enjoy

Yes, everything. The 1khz and 40hz lights should light up at some point also, but that just means it is detecting a signal.

The light you need to worry about is the RED distortion light. When it STAYS on is what you are looking for. Little blips can be ignored.

Do you have a manual? The unit itself isn't hard to use. Most of the time its the users fault because they fail to read all the steps or forget to make sure all crossovers are set properly.
