ROLEXrifleman
looking to step down the 12 volt out from the cig lighter to 5-7 volts so that the device I want to connect doesn't fry. Any help on how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Rolex you sicken me. Just let me finish my pie ~ Juice
geekybasshead98
I think you will need something called a 5v regulator. You can look up a circuit design online most likely. Then you could get one of these and wire it up http://www.ebay.com/itm/12v-Male-Car-Cigarette-Lighter-Socket-Plug-With-Fuse-Connector-Conversion-Outlet-/331079406572?pt=US_Adapters&hash=item4d15ded3ecHope I helped, I've never built anything like this but I have watched a few videos online about building electronics. ROLEXrifleman
Thanks guys. I was overthinking this and looking to build a circuit. Instead I found a couple schematics on making one and after I buy the parts and put the time in it's cheaper just to buy a pre fab one. If I was making more than 5 then it would be worth it. I may also just go through my junk cell phone charger drawer and see if any of those spit out 5-6 volts dc Rolex you sicken me. Bump4life
all you need is a 7805. look that bad boy up. whats your load? depending on the load you may or may not need a heat sink Buyer/Seller Feedback Thread: http://www.stevemead...5015-bump4life/ MB C220 153 Trunk Car Build Log: http://www.stevemead...d/#entry1840136 MB C280 Ipad Dash SQ Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/194484-bump4lifes-new-benz-tony-c-relay-kit-pictures-ce-electric-audison-front-stage-installed/ My SPL Log: http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 BMW M340 xDrive Stock, for now. ROLEXrifleman
less than an amp. No heat sink would be needed. I even though about cannibalizing a blown amp if it had any good ones on it!!!! Rolex you sicken me. Just let me finish my pie ~ Juice

ROLEXrifleman
As stated a 7805 was all I needed. here's the down and dirty in pics. Made for less than $5 and built my way. 9-20 volts in with a constant 5 volts out! BTW, the 1st pic was parts I cannibalized from an old VCR. I ended up buying new parts but the VCR parts would have been fine. This will do 2 amps max with the heat sink Rolex you sicken me.
