Power for my setup

so the only upgraded alternator for my car, is a 140amp upgraded alt to my 90amp one right now... singer is offering me a 160amp but for 400$ opposed to 150$ for a 140amp at a toyota performance store, i said ill save the money..

will i be okay with one yellow top upfront, 140amp alt, and a xs d3400 or 3100 in the back? powering 2 x12's on a hifonics brutus elite at 1 ohm and a couple midrange speakers and tweeters on a separate amp??

i really can't afford to spend 580$ on an alt right now but the toyota store I'm speaking of can make me a 240 amp alt. if i NEED it, i guess ill save up for that but idk anything about electrical so.. looking for some advice on the 140amp. thanks

Shop around. There's typically a limit due to physical size that you can get out of an alternator. Like most audio related stuff a lot of people advertize a "rating" that's far from what you'll see real world, at idle, or when hot. I'd be suspicious of anything from a dealership or anything that an alternator shop offers you that promises a lot more than the competition will claim to be able to deliver.

FYI, Mike Singer isn't the only guy building HO alternators. Last I checked there's still a good half a dozen other reliable companies in that market. You might consider at some point also, that it'll be easier/cheaper to have some custom bracket fabricated to just hold a bigger unit and approach the problem from that direction.

Really also depends on your needs. Perhaps you could just consider buying more efficient amps and drivers and higher quality batteries for up front and secondary?

the thing about under my hood, the alternator is right under the hood. if i was to get a bigger one, i would think the hood won't close.. fitment issues in that area is stupid. (fucking japanese cars)

and i tried dc alts and mechman. no one has. any others i can check?

btw... do you think personally the 140amp would suffice?

have the amps already. everything hooked up, but running at 2 ohm powering some power acoustic sub..

amp is a hifonics brutus elite BE2500.1 2500 watts at 1 ohm.. and the voice amp is an autotek amp.. plan on switching that out for like a lanzar opti 700x2 or something around there.. so i would like to get something to run those. when I'm ready to get the voice amp ill be ready with power

Lol with a 140 amp alt you can run 2k without even dipping into reserve.

Actually since you said your gunna be running it at 1 ohm and your going to have another 700x2 amp you should get another alt. You won't need it if you run that amp at 2 tho
