hispls
Go to the Dell website and check their outlet. You can buy refurbs, and scratch-and-dents for a deep discount. Google a little bit and you can likely find some coupons as well. Then when you have it in hand, call them up and complain about something, they'll often offer you a small refund to just keep it instead of going through the trouble to take it as a return. I buy a lot of laptops that way and we've done very well.... Also their high end warranty is tits and totally worth it if you can find a package deal with that. Not sure if they have any at that price range, but you can usually get one with MSRP of 1300$+ for around 800$. Anyway, I KNOW it's a good value on the higher end stuff, I don't know much about low cost laptops.

truthsayer
#4- hp, quad processor. I have an hp laptop that i've been running now for 3 yrs without any problems. Now i know kranny says hp sucks and go with dell, well there's an aircraft company here who would disagree. They ran dell with nothing but issues. Now they are running HP. truthsayer

Now i know kranny says hp sucks and go with dell, well there's an aircraft company here who would disagree. They ran dell with nothing but issues. Now they are running HP. we have HP printers here at work. six $500-800 inkjets were bad out of the box (with different issues too), all in the same shipment. only issue we had with a dell was tuesday when the laptop came with the keyboard ribbon cable unplugged. took 30 minutes to take it apart and plug it back in. all our PC's and laptops here are dell and they work flawlessly. KiKaZz74
If I bumped it up to $350 what would you suggest that I can buy in stores. I'm leaning towards best buy but anywhere is possible. redwolf2
Anything by ASUS. Superior build and warranty. There was one time I threw my laptop across the room, and broke it. So I called Asus (they have warranty for that) and they had a UPS truck at my door within an hour or two.
