Help! Should I go with an X12 or Zv4

I have an SAZ-2000D amp and am thinking about getting a single X12 or Zv4. I'm custom building a box that is 2.5 cubic feet tuned to 32hz with 16 sq inches of port/cubic foot. The box will be in the back of my F150 with the sub and port firing upwards. I already ordered the X12 but I have no issues returning it and ordering a Zv4 if it's better suited for my application, so don't take that into consideration when you respond.

I am getting a Mechman 270A alternator so there will be no lack of electrical.

Which subwoofer better suits my needs? The price difference doesn't matter. Most interested at 2k rms which woofer will give me better performance and a longer life expectancy.

I'd run the X to save cash. That box may be a tad on the larger side though.

However if you get the Zv4, you could get another 2000D down the road.

Zv4 is rated higher but I have seen people give xs 2k. Main thing is what's your foal with the build?

To get loud and low and for it to last a while. Hopefully it'll be louder and dig lower then my 2 Type Rs on 1k in a shitty prefab.

I wanna stick with one 12. Right now my options are the X12 or Zv4. If my 2k amp ever dies I might jump to 2500 or 3000 and for this reason I'm considering the jump to Zv4. But my main concern right now is will I get the same performance from an X12 on 2k and a Zv4 on 2k in the same box.

Sounds like you want as loud and low as you can get, just get the zv4, if you got the x you'd just wonder how much better the zv4 would have been, just upgrade from the get go.

z.4 all day. already got a good box for it. and if your looking to add power then yea z.4. id get a 15 put it in 4.25 tuned to 30hz and put 3.5k to it. end of story. when you get the 1 12 your immediately gonna either want to add power or another sub. getting the 15 will hold you off a Lil.longer.

2 12s on 1k and 1 sub on 2k... you'll.gain because the z4 is much better. but not like your hoping for.

I freed up my two back seats with this and im coming ahead. I barely had enough room for this box in the space I wanted to keep it in. No way I'd have room for a 15 unless I removed my other bigger seat and put the box there. If you know what I mean in most trucks in the rear the back seat is divided into one small section and one bigger section. My type Rs were in a box that gave them each 1 cubic foot BEFORE displacements. The box was complete utter shit. I'm hoping to see a huge upgrade in the lows. My rs wouldn't even touch low notes, which was probably the box.

I've never ran @ 0.5 ohm before. I still have yet to order my Zv4 so if it's possible to do that then maybe, although I don't feel comfortable doing it...

my rs might have.been in the same box as yours. 1.1ft each and tuned was listed as n/a it was only a temp box for my grand prix because my custom 6ft wouldn't fit.

answer Me this. when was the last time you had someone in you're rear seat? better yet 2 people? you're referring to the 60/40 split.

i know what you have and what you want. believe me i know! it will seem louder. because.you'll have a shit ton more output at lower hz. but i have a feeling your gonna want more the next day after hearing the z4.

the golden rule is adding a sub adds +3 db to your system. and doubling your power will add +3 to your system. In your case you are ditching a sub and doubling power... see what I'm saying? i understand the z4 is much much...much.better then the rs... but its still 2 subs in 2ft to one sub in 2ft. I'm not saying you not gonna like it. not saying that at all! i love my exo compared to the rs. love it! but I already doubled the power. i just don't want you to want more a day week.. later. cuz i promise you will!.

box seems great for a 12 z4.

take into account that you also have a truck. thats allot of cabin air for a single 12 to move! mine is in a trunk with a ski hole. port placement will make or brake your system.

but the good news... my buddy had a z4 18 in 7cubes. on a dd 5000w amp and a 220amp alt with 3 bats. that was in a dodge nitro. he hit a 148.7 @34hz on a term lab. you have the electrical and passion. now sacrifice the space get a good big sub you won't feel the need to upgrade... wait a few months get a bigger bad ass amp put your big boy pants on and do it!. his shit was so loud Abd low it hurt! took your breath away and could do hair tricks out of all 4 windows at once!

you know you want it, you know you will want it. be smart and save money by going big the first time! a good 3k Will make that sub shine!
