Help! Should I go with an X12 or Zv4

my rs might have.been in the same box as yours. 1.1ft each and tuned was listed as n/a it was only a temp box for my grand prix because my custom 6ft wouldn't fit.

answer Me this. when was the last time you had someone in you're rear seat? better yet 2 people? you're referring to the 60/40 split.

i know what you have and what you want. believe me i know! it will seem louder. because.you'll have a shit ton more output at lower hz. but i have a feeling your gonna want more the next day after hearing the z4.

the golden rule is adding a sub adds +3 db to your system. and doubling your power will add +3 to your system. In your case you are ditching a sub and doubling power... see what I'm saying? i understand the z4 is much much...much.better then the rs... but its still 2 subs in 2ft to one sub in 2ft. I'm not saying you not gonna like it. not saying that at all! i love my exo compared to the rs. love it! but I already doubled the power. i just don't want you to want more a day week.. later. cuz i promise you will!.

box seems great for a 12 z4.

take into account that you also have a truck. thats allot of cabin air for a single 12 to move! mine is in a trunk with a ski hole. port placement will make or brake your system.

but the good news... my buddy had a z4 18 in 7cubes. on a dd 5000w amp and a 220amp alt with 3 bats. that was in a dodge nitro. he hit a 148.7 @34hz on a term lab. you have the electrical and passion. now sacrifice the space get a good big sub you won't feel the need to upgrade... wait a few months get a bigger bad ass amp put your big boy pants on and do it!. his shit was so loud Abd low it hurt! took your breath away and could do hair tricks out of all 4 windows at once!

you know you want it, you know you will want it. be smart and save money by going big the first time! a good 3k Will make that sub shine!

My only issue with the Rs was that they didn't hit low and took up too much space and I think they were starting to go, at loud volume it made a weird sound. Kind of like the coils/spider slapping or something. If the Zv4 digs low and is a touch louder I'll be satisfied for now. I will be picking up a 270A alt from Mechman so that leaves room open to possibly get another amp and another zv4 in the future. For now I think I'll be extremely happy!

Future plans for now in a year or two consist of a second zv4 12 and a 3500-5k amp or wait until I finish school and get started in life. Probs will pickup a car. I plan on keeping my truck or getting a new one. I wanna have a car and a truck as I'm into snowmobiling/dirtbiking ect. Each will have it's sound system.

Yeah man. If you can buy a $400 subwoofer, there's no reason why you can't buy the $530 one.

the 18 will be almost as loud as the 2 12 z4s. spend $590 now or $530 twice? they handle.the same power the 18 will just put out more with Less. and put out allot with more!.

type rs Do get low! when i had mine in 6cubes @ 30hz they got low! but you need to make sure your gains are right! I've been beating mine for over a year and there in mint condition!

i have the newest ones tho.

but really id rather spend the couple extra bucks for the 18 now then the other $5++ something a year from now. plus adding a sub a year.later... one will be broken in and loise while the other stiff and new...

We must have different tastes. I need the room for now. I go sledding with buddies and going to be getting a bike soon. The room is needed for all the gear and such. There's no way I have room for an 18 nor do I want one. Like I said I'm looking for something to hit the lows and sound good. If I upgrade to 15s or 18s it'll be in a different vehicle. Since I won't be getting a different vehicle for 4-6 years what I'm doing now is fine. I'm not looking to compete, just looking to get louder/lower then the type Rs and stand out from all the kicker kids around here.

My whole reason of selling the type Rs was to free up some space and get either the X12 or the Zv4 as I've been dwelling over those for some time. I was also able to build a proper box for one in the space I was willing to give up. Every thing has fallen into place for my build and there's nothing I wish to change.

And honestly even if I took your advice, probably within a month I'd want to go bigger. That problem is always there and I know how to say no as I'd rather invest into a dirtbike or that new vehicle I see in my future.

no we have the same taste. but i just don't care about biking or that stuff. just bass... running wires building boxes.. bass and cars. its not that i don't think it will be awesome or you won't love it. but i upgraded every year for 14years now. just want you to love your system! without spending more then you have to. but I'm.a bigger is better kinda guy. and if you Can sacrifice 2.5Cubes why not 3.5 for a 15? that's how i am. because I've done this so many times.

and even a 8z4 would stand out from kickers! ; )

I'm still young trying to avoid modding my truck too much as it's still worth about 12k. If I go any bigger then 2.5-3.0 cubes then I have to relocate to the 60 portion of my rear seats. I've managed to fit all this stuff in the 40 portion for now.

For now this is a just an unplanned upgrade for me, still gotta finish paying off the sled, and then I want a dirtbike. It's all about priorities. Also going to college this fall if I get passed the waitlist or next Sept for sure, so I have that to consider too.

I'll be sure to grab a video, is the best thing to cover a box carpet? Not really a fan of the raw MDF look

bed liner, plasti dip, any paint really or carpet. but make sure you dont port out into the open. put your port about 5/6 inches from your trucks wall. side back whatever. but it needs to be against something solid in the truck. if you just fire into the open cabin you have a good chance of losingallot of output

Bed liner looks awesome when done correctly. I like the bare MDF look. It sends a message that I didn't have time to paint/carpet it, because I needed my bass NOW!!!
