I actually applied for a "job" in like '93 "Audio enthusiasts wanted" or some shit. Get there and it's the "white van speaker" schtick. The deal is, they use a rental van or box truck and just drive around and do the act when they pull up to someone. The brand name always changes but the deal is the same. The speakers are very low end Chinese rubbish with a fancy brochure (probably web page these days) showing super high MSRP and a bunch of bafflegab making it sound really good. The crew in the van owns each speaker set for 100$ or 150$ or whatever the price is these days and whatever they can con people into paying beyond that is their "commission". Day 1 on the job someone we approached who had got "the deal of a lifetime" before pulled a gun on us.... needless to say I chose another line of work shortly thereafter.
