i have a 90 amp alt running the car now and no battery in the trunk. and as of right now if i play my car for a little long, the amps will cut off..

I'm doing 2 x12's on a 2500watt hifonics amp.. can i get away with doing just 2 3100 xs batts in the rear and my yellow top upfront with the 90amp alt?

reason being... I'm on a budget to pay for the batts and box.. so its kind of hard for me to go ahead and do the alt right now..

for most people, a D3100 is $370. You're thinking about 2.. so $740.

Why not a HO alt ($450ish), and upgrade the starter battery?

All batts really do is HOLD a charge.. not really supply. Thats the alt's job. Sure, you could play for a while on batt reserve (in the 12s, then 11s, then so on).. But I like to HOLD voltage.. preferably a tad higher.. 13s and 14s.

yeah man, its hard right now haha. i was thinking upgrade amp but i can't do that right now. have to think about electrical.

in other cases, what do you guys think about running 2 yellow tops in back? cheaper for me but I'm not sure on what batteries are best now..

and regarding the alt situation, don't go for a 140 amp? the most i can get for my specific vehicle is a 200amp for 420$ and the 140 is budget wise best for me seeing as i can get it for 150. what do you guys recommend? keep in mind, ill take the loss for now on having a lower power amp for my subs and under power them
