fuse ratings for front and rear batteries.

got a big 3 1/0 kit it cam witha 300 amp anl fuse. i plan on putting this on the +batt to alt. wire. also got a 1/0 dual amp kit for the run to the rear.

the amps are a rockford fosgate p1000x1 and a p400x4 which call for a 140 amp and 60 amp fuse respectively. i got a 150 and a 60 in the mini anl distrubution block for them. (cant seem to find a 140 mini anl so had to use a 150)

my question is this, what size fuse on the on the front battery ? and what size fise at the rear battery?

should the front and rear power cable fuses be rated the same like 250 up front and 250 in the back,

would it be more protected if there was a lower rated fuse at the rear battery like a 250 up front and a 200 in the rear.??

just a tad confused any help greatly appreciated.

Fuse for your current demands no need to fuse higher.

Fuses are cheap to be safe and fuse what your system calls for....but if you plan on upgrading no harm in having a 250 or 300 on bat runs as long as you have the 150/60 last to feed and protect the amps

sounds like how i was going to do mine. I was told 1 fuse approx 18 inch off the front battery and 1 fuse approx 18 inch before it connects to rear battery . Then off the rear battery to amps fuse at the recomended fuse for the amp or next size up in case like yours .

I was also told the 1/0 run from front to back ( between batteries ) each fuse should be 250 if cca or 300 if ofc as this is to proctect the battery/wire and the fuse(s) off the rear battery protects the amps .

thats what i did, 300 between the battery and alt, and 300 after and 300 before the rear battery, and appropriate in the distro block, this is what i decided i should say as i have not done nothing yet. car aint here.

First of all you don't fuse for the amperage demand. You fuse for the rated amperage of the wire.

So front batt 18" or less fuse for wire, fuse 18" or less rear battery, run to amp fused for manufacturer spec for amp. Imo don't use a bigger fuse use a smaller fuse. Chances of the fuse blowing if slightly smaller is slim. Amps don't pull peak amperage, most RF amps pull roughly half of the recommended fuse. Could go with a 100-140 and be safe, safer then running a fuse that might nit pop before the amp fries.

Reason why you don't suggest to fuse for amperage demand is becyase for all we know he could be running cca and only have wire that can handle 200-250amps. Then his equipment might be able to pull more then the wire can handle. Say his gear pulls 300amps peak total. He fuses for that but his wire can only handle 250amp. You just set him up for failure and put him in danger.

im using NVX envy flex 1/0 100% OFC for everything, the big 3, and the run from the front to back battery, back battery to distrobution block and 4awg NVX envy flex OFC off the block to the amps

Fuse the front to rear runs for the manufacturer rated amperage if the wire and the 4gauge for the amps as long as it is not a bigger fuse then the wire is rated for.

For the amps use suggested fuse size or 1 fuse size lower. I really don't think a 150amp fuse would cause issues but I would hate to tell you its fine and the amp burn up. I would have to get that amp fixed or replaced for you if I gave you bad advice. Unless you check with rf tech use a size smaller rather then bigger.
