JP-12 Posted September 15, 2014 Report Posted September 15, 2014 I've had experience with welding in the past, never Tig. Tried it today and for my first time I think I did pretty good! Lots of room for improvement. Think TIG is my new favorite, it's fun as shit! Haha All just random scrap metal.

Aj11 Posted September 15, 2014 Report Posted September 15, 2014 had a chance to buy a nice little welder the other day. had everything you need to plug and play. i passed just because i know i Would spend the next 2 weeks trying to weld everything i could then never touch it again. i can say your skills are much better then mine! practice will make you better. i was Told start with the hard stuff. 2 different kinds of metal, rusted metal to new metal.. Airborne Posted September 15, 2014 Report Posted September 15, 2014 you sure thats not a MIG ? looks like the first few times I tried to TIG weld. Once you get a feel for the puddle you can keep the pulse on/off pretty good and adding the filler is an art form.

Understanding how the process works, understanding and implementing your machines settings and knowing it's limits are way more important.

JP-12 Posted September 15, 2014 Author Report Posted September 15, 2014 you sure thats not a MIG ? Positive lol Similar looking beads but in person you can tell the difference a lot easier. Then again I'm sure if I had a pic of each you could tell that way rather than only looking at the TIG bead.

Anyone can lay down perfect looking beads, test em' and they could have no penetration at all, just Sittin' on top of the metal all pretty. Won't hold very long.. I want to know the whole process and then some.. Honestly that's what I wanna do for a career haha
