My main question is how do I start? Is it worth it? Is it safe? I'd be able to dedicate a tower with a amd fx8250 and a 7870 ghz edition and a laptop with i7 and Nvidia Quadra k1000m about 10-12 hours a day. Running at home so electricity is paid for. Anyone here doing it? I just want some help and maybe we can make a team. Ram Posted September 16, 2014 Report Share Posted September 16, 2014 none of the major coins are worth it to mine anymore. at the level theyre at now, you might as well buy them. i have bit, redd, doge, dark, and monero. right now theyre in a bit of a decline on news about bitcoin, so ive just held mine for a while. "invested" in a bitcoin mining operation, because that seems to be the only way to get any sort of decent yield back, you're buying computing power at that point. Lost a bunch of money when it closed shop, theres around 50 people who are out anywhere from 200$-5K$ that they had invested in this thing and the guy who was running it just bailed with the money and theres no accountability, I doubt if these people even knew the guys real name. Kranny Posted September 16, 2014 Report Share Posted September 16, 2014 you wanna know how long it took me to make like $30 in litecoin with my OC'd 6850? a few months of 24/7 mining. for like $120 in dogecoin when it was three times the value it is now, took SEVERAL months. mined bitcoin for like 8 months last year, 24/7 before the other two coins. only made out with literally like 1.2 bitcoins. for 8 months worth of mining. at about 250mh/s or 250kh/s for doge/litecoins. mining is useless. electricity costs will outweigh the profit made. mining only useful if you dont have heat in your room and you want it to be warm in the winter.
