aculous Posted September 23, 2014 Report Posted September 23, 2014 alright so I was looking at the DD M4 and its rated at 3200W @ 1ohm. I want to run it a lot higher, say 4ohms does anyone know if they're rated for higher ohm loads? Feel like this may be a stupid question, I am guessing it can run a higher resistance just half the power level, so 1600w @ 2ohm and 800 watts @ 4 ohms. thoughts?

Why not bridge a 2 channel amp so you're getting the most performance out of your amp at your desired ohm load? Having headroom is a good thing, but what you're suggesting would be a ridiculous waste of power.

Originally I was looking at the soundqubed Q1-1200D which puts out 870x1 @ 2ohm but I was already getting sucked into thinking about something bigger so my thought was that the M4 would give me a ton of room to grow. ( I have been looking at way too many wall builds...my mind goes to sound quality first but I like loud and low too...its a hard compromise. I was already looking at different setups because I have a 15" Stereo Integrity sub but I haven't finished the design of the box. I like the Fi and DC subs though for durability. I also saw Stereo Integrity has 18s for a decent price and they're efficient and have a low fs....the demons are trying to get me to go bigger before I have even started really) Not sure I can justify a $400 price different though. Also I have a higher output alternator but I am guessing for 3k on tap I would have to go over the 180amp alt I have and step up the battery bank too which would REALLY negate me being able to afford the M4. I really like the DD amps though...but for the price...I mean I could probably get decent output from a DC Audio or Sundown amp.

Well I was going to run (2) Stereo Integrity 15"s that are 600w RMS first...but I looked at running (2) 18"s but I don't think I will get as accurate tight bass from them. But now I am looking at Fi/DC/Sundown et al. Also I really like the XBLv2 motors from Creative Sound Solutions.

Im not hatin im just curious no feelings hurt here appreciate the questions about the thought process. Well thinking about running a SQ setup and trying that out and then trying out a SQL or more SPL based substage. As in running (2) 12"s that are more SQ oriented and then running a Fi/DC/Sundown type sub thats more SPL geared. I am also looking at the Fi SQ subs that are infinite baffle. Still looking up "infinite baffle" in a car....that doesn't really make sense to me, its still a sealed space no matter what you do, I am guessing its more a "finite amount of air space opposed to more then what the sub needs" type of thing.
