bigjoe302boss
I have a 15" fi ssd w/o any options and I have a cerwin vega 1200w amp pushing it and everything is turned down at its lowest setting as far as gains and boosts go, and I haven't turned the radio past half volume. I was bumpin today and and felt the urge to turn the bass nob up just a lil, no more than half way, and I started smelling that sad sad smell of voice coils. I need some input on this, too much amp? bass nob distortion? or is it just not finished breaking in, even though I have played it at least 20+ hours since i have had it just to break it in before I turned it up a lil. Please help me out with some info, preciate it. bigjoe302boss
I am aware of the power rating, just thought that if it was all turned down that it wouldn't see the 1200rms, and plus volume at 1/2, bass setting all the way down and nob was only at half, do you think that half a turn of the bass nob added that much distortion, that is why I didn't go past half because I know it adds distortion. meade916
halfway up doesnt mean anything...throw an O-scope on your leads and check for clipping. bigjoe302boss
about the clipping steve, if it was clipping it wasn't audible because it sounded clean even with the bass nob at half. meade916
i dunno bro....for you to smell a sub it must have a dirty signal or something...or your really overpowering it hard. I can get my subs to smell some too but only after a long time at full tilt and at 2 1/2 times the RMS. what is the model # of that amp so i can look it up.......i dont know that ive seen a CV amp before. Id like to see what its all about. Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! Over 1,000,000 subscribers strong!
