Connecting amp to battery bank???

Recommended Posts

I have three XS Power D3100 batteries connected in series in my trunk battery bank. I have an AB vfl 1100.1 with three power/ground inputs. My question is in regards to the best way to connect my amp to the battery bank. Which option do you think is best, or does it not matter. Again, the batteries are connected in series. Thanks in advance.

Option 1: Connect battery 1 to amp input 1, connect battery 2 to amp input 2, connect battery 3 to amp input 3.

Option 2: Connect battery 3 to each amp input (three separate runs). This would look "cleaner" in my setup but I am not sure if I will somehow lose power with this setup.

best way to connect your amp to batt bank? If you care about your amp, dont.

The batts are wired in series?

Now if you meant parallel, it doesnt matter.

Think of the the battery bank as ONE BIG battery.

If theyre connected using adequate wire.. theyre just that.. pretty much a big battery.

As a result, it doesnt matter where the inputs are wired to.

I have two runs of 0 gauge from my alternator to Battery 1 (in my trunk). Here is the way I have my batteries connected right now:

Battery 1 positive to Battery 2 positive, Battery 2 positive to Battery 3 positive.

Same with the negatives. Is this series or parallel?

I just looked this up online. They are connected in parallel. Sorry for the confusion. So in this scenario does it matter what battery/batteries I connect my amp inputs to.
