Garrett Fisher
I just installed an air compressor system on my truck, and i connected the hot wire for the electric solenoid for my air horn to the same battery terminal that my amps are connected to. But, every time i release the horn button for the air horn my speakers make a pop noise. I dont get any noise out of my subs, only from the 4 door speakers. Any ideas why this is happening? Or how to fix it? Thanks in advance!
Broke_Audio_Addict
How is it all grounded? That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals. White Lightning
Not enough battery power for the compressor ... Let alone the compressor AND amplifiers ... Garrett Fisher
Not enough battery power for the compressor ... Let alone the compressor AND amplifiers ... its a 1000 amp battery and the compressor is only 30 amps, theres enough power, plus i only run either the compressor or my system, not both at once. and the speakers pop when i press the horn switch which only operates a 12v solenoid. the speakers pop when the amps are switched on when the ignition is on, when the truck is off theres no pop
Wicks
The solenoid is a coil of wire that stores energy. When you release the button the solenoid releases the energy by a large negative spike which can cause "popping" sounds. Try a 5-10A reversed biased diode directly on the solenoid terminals. Diode cathode on the positive terminal. Diode anode on the negative terminal. Relays have this same issue and some are built with diodes in them.
