oldschoolaudio
I'm using the DD1 to check the distortion on two HU's that I have. They're both sony HU's, one is a dsx 210x and the other is a dsx-310btx. I'm getting NO distortion out of both of them turn all the way up to 50. I'm using my ipod with the test CD on itunes. EQ is flat and all high pass and low pass turned off on HU. EQ is off on ipod. So, are these HU's that good or am I missing something?

philrab
Are you testing through the amps/from the RCA's, or testing the amplified speaker leads out of the back of the deck? I only ask because on my Kenwood X997, I got distortion at 25/35 on the deck power, but maxed out clean through the amp. That's fairly common across a lot of different decks, that they'll distort way earlier on deck power, which is why I'm asking. If your head unit aren't distorting at all on deck power, that raises my eyebrows. If you're measuring the RCA's signal, very possible. 2015 Toyota Tacoma Build Thread 2007 Mazda 3; 5000K HID's, Kenwood Excelon KDC-X997, Infinity Reference 6.5 comps in front and coaxials in the rear doors, JL 320.4 four channel, Rab Designs built ported enclosure with an SA12, Kenwood monoblock, Redline Leater shift boot/e-brake boot/center console cover, JBR short shifter/shifter bushings/rear motor mount. oldschoolaudio
I'm measuring before the amps. I'll set the amps next. I saw a video that Steve did on a 310btx, but i can't find it. I don't think it distorted.
Kyblack76
There is nothing "special" going on. Many are clean on both runs up to full. There's nothing "that good" about anything. Your decks don't show distortion at a level, some do. That's why you bought the unit.
