fufhubbin Posted October 21, 2014 Report Posted October 21, 2014 My great is selling me 2 of these optimum rep top battery's for 50$ each and my plan is to put 1 under the hood and one in the back for my sun which is the orion hcca. I just wanna make sure you guys on here approve these battery's I'm for sure putting 1 under the hood thou. SLYentist Posted October 22, 2014 Report Posted October 22, 2014 connect in parallel... positive to positive, negative to negative. make sure both batteries are fully charged before installation. Cables and wires almost never fail; the terminations do.
Guest Posted October 22, 2014 Report Posted October 22, 2014 if they have no warranty, dont buy them. if they have a warranty for a replacement brand new optima if it dies (probably will happen, notorious issue) then go for it.
fufhubbin Posted October 22, 2014 Author Report Posted October 22, 2014 I don't have the set up yet for the one for the back but they fully charged the optima red top and put it under the hood and my car wouldn't start even though the battery was at 12.8 volts and the alt was working so they put my old star dad battery in that's only rated at 550 cold cranking amaps and it started just fine. Should I get the battery tested then before I buy it. SLYentist Posted October 22, 2014 Report Posted October 22, 2014 red tops are supposed to be their start-up specialty batteries. So, if they can't start the car, they're bad and don't buy them Cables and wires almost never fail; the terminations do.
