Troy019 Posted November 20, 2014 Report Posted November 20, 2014 So I have been looking around on the internet for a sub and I cam across the NVX VCW124. I want to put two of those in my 2005 volvo s40. I am probably going to build a box. I f there are two subs does the box volume double and the tuned frequency? Also could someone recommend an amp? Will the power be able to run off of the main car battery? I will also upgrade the door speakers and tweeters. Sorry for all the questions. I am new to this. Thanks

Thanks Ok, yes if there are two subs you need to double the size required for 1 sub. Next tuned frequency is something your going to have to figure out use the RE box calculator online.. should help u Next If youve never installed a system before make sure you do your research before you just go to town. For instance WHERE Ur power wire is run could possibly cause an electronical fire. If I were you I would do a lot more research before u install anything.. Bcs from the sounds of it you need to know a lot before tackling Ur own system. ( no offense) RESEARCH! RESEARCH! RESEARCH! Deeznutz Posted November 21, 2014 Report Posted November 21, 2014 Recommendations are subjective. Like Jeff said, research, research, research. Just a word of advise,....DO NOT SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY ON A NICE SUB(S), ONLY TO BE PUSHED BY A CHEAP BOSS, P.A., ETC AMP. Other than that, you have alot of options. What I would recommend as I always do. I would visit local franchise pawn shops, not mom and pop pawn shops. Break out the city map and spend a few hours just driving around. See what they have, google what amps are in front of you and read the reviews. You'll be surprised what you will find. Plus some shops offer 6 month protection warranties, that can be stretched every 6 months for 10% of the sale price. I love that feature! Once you find what you want, find the matching amp on Ebay. I found this Old School Crossfire CFA302 (on the right) for $40.00 at Southern Pawn in Clearwater, FL. I found the matching amp on Ebay for $80.00 shipped. Both $120. Not a bad deal for underrated amps! 75W X 2 for a pair of Eclipse 8062 component set (Ebay $68.00) and 300W x 1 RMS for and Image Dynamics IDQ12 ($40.00 Southern Pawn) System is now complete! Just a thought! -Frank
Troy019 Posted November 21, 2014 Author Report Posted November 21, 2014 Thank you for your replies. I am defiantly going to research more. Would an alpine amp be able to push these?
mcfalcon Posted November 21, 2014 Report Posted November 21, 2014 Its not that simple guy. What alpine amp? They have wattage ratings. I have a 100 watt alpine in the garage that will not push them. Still learning but have started gathering.
Ahmed Johnson Posted November 21, 2014 Report Posted November 21, 2014 I've never used nvx, but why not go with the same brand. I see them on sonic electronix all the time giving away deals for them. I have a coupon code if you want me to pm it to you. Also, before anybody asks me why I didn't suggest another brand is because that shit gets tiring.

Unless it's someone asking about PA or pyle or other brand that is known to be outright crap, then people shouldn't be suggesting some other brand. It happens a lot. Someone will ask about sundown and get a reply trying to push them to DC or DD or somewhere else, and vice versa. They asked about what they wanted, not about the brand you like. sorry for the rant SMD Tool Map https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/193176-smd-tool-map-new-november-2014/ Build log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/197217-reeds-03-tahoe-hat-sqaq-singer-xs-shca-cockbox-80prs/?page=32
