What Type of Alt. would i need???

Im looking to run a taramp 8k on my lvl 5's(2). Im pretty clueless to as what type of alt. i would need. I was going to go with a typical 240. alt. But my buddy said I might need a bit more.

Get a good brand. Mech man/singer/dc

Any one of those manufacturers will help you if you call them and tell them what you need.

according to mech man for my 03 explorer they only have a 240amp alt

What they list isn't always all the have. And even then, they will most likely work with you to get you what you need. Call them. Email them. Email singer. And your friend is right, 240 isnt enough for an 8K.

Don't go by the website if that's what you're going off of. Call and talk to a person, you'll get more options that way.

DC, Mechman, Singer. Call them, explain your current needs. You'll need a beefy battery bank aswell to support the current draw of the HD8k.

iirc Singer has built a few dual alt setups in that generation of explorer. Randen Fall has an 04? with a dual kit, I think
