Feedback/Experience using the RF PBR (mini) amps in a sub configuration?

Because I'm looking for amps with minimal footprints, I thought back of when I first heard of the RF PBR amps (and watching Steve's video's

,
, and BigDWiz's video's
,
, and
,) and being intrigued to utilize them in a future build.

Box is sealed ~.2 cuft. and will be running a Sundown SD-2 8" (D2) sub.

First option would be running the 300x1 at 1 ohm.

Second would be running the 300x2 bridged at 4 ohms.

My main concern is heat, and would feedback from anyone who may have used the PBR amps in a similar configuration.

Output considerations would be appreciated as well.

Thoughts?

I deleted the intro from the first post as it was just more to read rather than helped provide info for my question.

Hopefully that will make it easier to provide feedback.

Here's that intro if anyone wants to read it though -

Holy shit I typed this twice and right near the end accidentally hit the back button and lost it all, FUCK!

For the third fucking time now -

I'm starting to gather equipment for the build in my next Mazda 3 hatchback. Already snagged a slick fiberglassed stealth box from Phil here on the forum, and picked up 40 sq. ft of Damp Pro during Second Skin's Cyber Monday sale.

Goal for this build is a solid, reliable, full sounding system with a minimal footprint that doesn't need to have ton of output. I knew my escort was on it's last leg in it's later years and I just couldn't justify putting the time and money into a car that I knew would end up in a scrap yard sooner rather than later so a nice HU/set of comps/DD1508 in a ported box/RF Prime 500x1 kept me more than happy.

I've used the PBR300x1 and PBR300x2 in the center console of my Sequoia for about a year. The 300x2 gets hot, I would not recommend it for sub duty (in cramped quarters). Also, the 300x1 packs a "punch", but may not be enough power for your sub? I'm powering an OS JL Audio 10W3 D2 wired at 1 ohm in a Stealthbox and it gets relatively loud. That said, I'd go 300x1 or 500x1 if it will fit.

Thanks guys, really appreciate it.

I'm thinking there will be enough extra room around the wheel wells for a 500x1 so that sounds like the best option to me considering your reccomendations.

Are you running the 300x2 on some comps? I thought it would be nice to utilize these amps for mids/highs as well which won't be crazy, just replacing the factory speakers and adding an amp, 2 6.5"s and tweets up front and 2 6.5's in the rear doors iirc.

Thanks again Nate and BigD!

Now the real question, trying to decide between running it at 1 ohm or 4, less heat and more reliability at 4 but more power at 1, hmm. The sub's only rated for 300w but I'd be happy in the 4-500w range and go light on gain depending on how much power the amp actually puts out at 1 and 4 ohms.

Did you do a test on that BigD?

I can't comment on the RF, but have you looked at the JBL MA-5001? It's been on the SMD dyno in a few videos and is a brilliant little amp with some cool features.

Sonic has it for $199 (there's a $10 coupon in their subforum as well).
