Is 300amp fuse ok for 220amp mechman alt?

I fuse for current demands even on big 3 from bat to alt. Even though some will say they don't fuse on their big 3 from batt to alt and some will say to fuse for wire on big 3 from batt to alt.

current demands I agree. still say zero reason to leave the fuse out of the big 3.

OP,

You fuse for the lesser of the 2 ratings, either your current demand, or your wire rating. Hopefully your demand isn't greater than the capabilities of the wire or youll be replacing fuses often.
